One prisoner, 5 days, live on the net.

It’s 10.24pm. I’m staring at at a mostly black video window waiting to see a guy in a cell being ‘attacked by a bear.’ Nothing is happening. I’m slightly disappointed.

I’m watching ‘The Cell Experience,’ a French website tamely attempting emulate the plot of the movie Untraceable, where a rogue website promises a live broadcast of unspeakable horrors foisted upon some helpless victim  when a pre-determined number of site hits is reached.

Still, nothing is happening. The bear was supposed to come in at 60.000 hits. As I write, the lights have gone off, the hits counter scrolled at an alarming speed past 60.700, and still no bear. There’s time however: about a day and a half left of public captivity.

Oh well. The poor guy has gone to sleep. Maybe the bear will come in the morning. By then it may have to fight the prisoner as he wears a sumo outfit, the next ‘punishment’ scheduled for the 70.000 hits mark.

So far, all I’ve seen is a guy in an orange jumpsuit read a book while lying on a bunk. And yet the hit counter keeps climbing. 61.804 hits, and climbing fast.

Go figure.

I’m going to bed. Wake me up when something happens.
