It seems that Twitter has finally found its niche, beyond allowing people to broadcast their bowel movements: as a perfect tool of political dissent.
As we speak, the hash tag #iranelection is atweet (new word there) with proxy IP addresses used to bypass Iran’s current post-election ‘net blackout. It would seem that state censorship just isn’t as easy as it used to be.
Should Apple buy Twitter? How about EA Games? With rampant speculation as to what Apple intends to do with its $29 billion cash reserves, this is your chance to speak up. Who or what should Apple do with all that cash?
Somewhat surprisingly, the iPhone contributed little to the measured increase in US mobile internet use of 11.6 million daily users year-to-year.
In fact, only 30% of the increase comes from smartphones at all, with the remaining 70% originating from lower-end feature phones.
The main driver? Social networking of course, with Facebook and Twitter gaining a staggering 427% jump in regular mobile users.
Certified genius, actor, comedian and racounteur Stephen Fry has is celebrating his 100.000 follower milestone on Twitter, second only to Obama himself.
The surge was largely due to Stephen’s promotion of the micro blogging platform on the popular British chat show ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.’
Incidentally, Fry’s lucky 100.000th follower is a user by the name of amellioh, who at the time of writing has yet to post a single public tweet.
