UK crowdsourcing crime prevention via CCTV 'web game'

Fancy yourself a crimefighter? Then this might be for you:

“The ‘Internet Eyes’ service involves players scouring thousands of CCTV cameras installed in shops, businesses and town centres across Britain looking for law-breakers.

Players who help catch the most criminals each month will win cash prizes up to £1,000.”

This has got to be either the coolest idea in crime prevention I have ever heard of, or the scariest breach of privacy rights yet. I’m still undecided on the subject.

UK mobile users: go ex-directory by week's end, or forever be listed

A new directory service for mobiles is about to launch, and you have only until the end of this week to opt-out from having your contact details included.

The service, 118 800, claims it will never give out your actual mobile number, but will allow people to get in touch with you. If you, like me, would rather not be reached by just anybody, you can opt out of the directory here.
